Terms and reuse
What you may do with CrimeDB data, and what CrimeDB promises in return. How we decide what to publish is on Legal.
Using CrimeDB data
CrimeDB compiles records that government agencies and courts have already made public, and every value links to its source. The facts are free for anyone to use. Our own text and the way we arrange the tables are © Daniel Johns, and you may reuse them for any purpose if you credit "CrimeDB" with the vintage and link. The underlying records belong to their original publishers.
CrimeDB is not a consumer reporting agency, and its data is not a consumer report. You may not use it to decide anyone's eligibility for employment, housing, credit, insurance, or any other purpose covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. We do not supply data to background-check companies.
Records can be incomplete, out of date, or about a different person with the same name. An arrest or charge is not a conviction. We correct errors and remove sealed or expunged records free of charge. The data is provided as is, without warranty.
How to cite
Give the table or page title, vintage, original source, and link:
CrimeDB. "Table or page title." Vintage YYYY-MM-DD. Compiled by Daniel Johns from original source, publisher, year. Permalink. Accessed date.
Short form for charts and posts: "Source: CrimeDB, from original source, vintage YYYY-MM-DD."
Bulk files
Bulk files are sent on request, free. Before we send any file that names people, you agree to these terms in writing. Some sources limit redistribution, so their records stay out of bulk files unless they give permission.
What CrimeDB promises

- Bulk files are sent free, without even a charge to cover costs.
- We never trade data with anyone.
- We use no third-party trackers.
- No ads or sponsor credits appear on pages that name people.
- We never charge to correct or remove a record.
